Why opt for the CliftonStrengths Assessment over other personality tests?
"If you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail." 🛠️
That phrase came up in a conversation I had not long after I got certified by Gallup as a CliftonStrengths® coach four years ago.
And yes, truth be told, that conversation did get me thinking. Am I a tiny bit biased giving my focus on this approach? Probably! And yes, of course not every organizational need fits a strengths-focused workshop.
Buuuut, looking back, in my work I found that even when clients didn't initially seek that, we often ended up using a strengths-based approach because it created the right mindset and a wonderful playing field to build on.
And so we've been using a strengths-based approach for engagements around:
🛠️ Rebuilding #trust in a team
🛠️ Enhancing team #communication
🛠️ Managing #conflict
🛠️ Enabling a more inclusive work culture #diversityandinclusion
🛠️ Improving #productivity
... and the list goes on.
That is why we love this approach so much and also why if you are looking into using some form of "personality test" we would always recommend using the CliftonStrengths® assessment (unpaid promotion 😜). And that is true not just for organizations and teams - also if you are looking for a tool to invest in your personal development.
Many assessments focus on describing WHAT you are like in various situations and environments. CliftonStrengths focuses on HOW you do what you do when you are at your very best 🌟.
And here are a few more reasons to opt for the CliftonStrengths Assessment:
💪🏼 Focus on Strengths (slightly obvious, I know 😉): Unlike many personality tests that might highlight weaknesses or areas for improvement, CliftonStrengths is specifically designed to identify and focus on an individual's strengths.
📦 People are not put in boxes - CliftonStrengths provides a personalized report based on an individual's unique combination of strengths out of a total of 34 identified themes. This granularity allows for a more detailed understanding of an individual's strengths
😊 It shows the uniqueness we bring - The assessment is grounded in positive psychology principles, emphasizing the importance of fostering what is right with individuals rather than focusing solely on addressing what is wrong.
🔄 Applicable to different settings - As your strengths are something inherent to your personality, CliftonStrengths can be applied in a variety of contexts, including personal development, team building, leadership development, and organizational culture enhancement (see my list above 👆🏽).
💡 It‘s not just a personality test - it comes with a perspective shift on how we can thrive by consciously focusing on what we are already inherently good at, on how we understand personal development in our organizations and how we can make people feel seen and heard again, so they can thrive at their work.
